The short version
GhostSolve is a Chrome extension. It runs inside your browser tab — the same tab where your quiz is. That means:
- You never switch tabs
- You never open new windows
- Your LMS sees normal quiz-taking behavior
That's it. Keep reading if you want the details on each platform.
Canvas
Canvas tracks a lot. Here's what their quiz logs actually record:
What Canvas sees:
- When you started and submitted the quiz
- How long you spent on each question
- If you left the quiz page (tab switches)
- How many times you stopped and resumed
- Your IP address and browser info
Does Canvas detect tab switching?
Yes. Canvas logs a "blur event" every time you click away from the quiz. Your instructor can see how many times this happened and for how long.
But here's the thing — Canvas can't see what you did. It just knows you left.
Blackboard
Blackboard has similar logging to Canvas, plus some extra security options.
What Blackboard tracks:
- Test start/end times
- Time per question
- IP address and location
- Browser and device info
- Force completion violations
Can Blackboard detect screenshots?
No. Blackboard by itself cannot detect screenshots. Only when paired with special software like Respondus LockDown Browser can screenshots be blocked.
Moodle
Moodle is open-source, so monitoring features vary by school. But the basics are usually the same.
Common Moodle logging:
- Attempt history with timestamps
- Time spent per question
- Page focus events (leaving/returning)
- IP and session info
Safe Exam Browser
Some schools use Safe Exam Browser (SEB) which locks down your computer during exams. If your school uses this, you'll know — it's a separate app you have to download.
For regular Moodle quizzes without SEB, GhostSolve works perfectly.
Google Forms
Google Forms is the simplest. It has almost no monitoring.
What Google Forms tracks:
- Submission time
- Email (if required)
- That's basically it
No tab switch detection. No time-per-question tracking. Google Forms just collects answers.
Schoology
Popular in K-12 and some colleges. Moderate monitoring.
What Schoology logs:
- Submission time and duration
- Attempts used
- Page leave events
- Device info

Why GhostSolve stays invisible
Same tab
Everything happens in your quiz tab. No switching.
No overlay
Answers appear briefly, then disappear. Nothing permanent on screen.
Keyboard only
Ctrl+Shift+X. No suspicious clicking around.
No external calls
Works within Chrome. Your LMS can't detect extension activity.
What about proctoring software?
Tools like Respondus LockDown Browser, Proctorio, and ProctorU are different. They're designed specifically to lock down your computer and monitor everything.
If your exam requires you to download special software or enable your webcam, that's proctoring. GhostSolve isn't designed for those situations.
For regular online quizzes through your LMS? You're good.
Bottom line
LMS platforms log activity, but they can't see inside Chrome extensions. GhostSolve runs invisibly in the background while you take your quiz normally.
No tab switches. No weird behavior. Just answers.
